I hate being the bearer of bad news, I really do.

I just learned that my cousin's biological father has past away. I was asked by a family member to call her and tell her to go after his money - which is wrong thing to do (he was well off, but that's not the point). I told said family mem to piss off (about the money angle) but agreed that about calling my cousin.

I just got off the phone with her and naturally she's upset. They didn't really know each other that well because my aunt and he ended their relationship on a sour note, but from what my aunt (out West told me) he did for a time check in on her for a short time then lost contact.

I also told both my aunt and cousin what the other relation said about the money angle....well let's just say that they're pissed at the one who mentioned it.

I also spoke to her aunt (her late father's sister) delightful woman and completely understanding. She knew that he had another child before he married his current wife but she (the aunt) wasn't sure and didn't want to pry.

My cousin and I have had our differences in the past, but this was her father and she should be able to say good-bye even if it is from afar.
